MIDDLE TRENT ANGLING CONSULTATIVE ASSOCIATION

(M.T.A.C.A)

Trevor Bowcott is the secretary of Middle Trent Angling Consultative Association.

This is a voluntary organisation whose members include some of the largest angling clubs in the Middle Trent catchment, together with fishery owners, interested individuals, and associated businesses.

The consortium exists to help members improve Angling on all waters from the main river, its tributaries, still waters, and canals through regular information exchange between members and other bodies such as the EA, Angling Trust, and Trent Rivers Trust.

We have access to advice and assistance with basic good fisheries management techniques, from stocking policy, pollution and poaching problems, predation, project funding advice, and many others.

The Association meets every quarter at different venues around the catchment and often has expert speakers on various related topics of concern to the members.

Angling of all types is now under more pressure than ever from a multitude of sources, so you need to get the best advice and help you can, together with the support of other anglers, from those who’ve been there and done it to ensure your sport continues and flourishes in your area!

The consortium has availability of x2 Agrilaser handheld bird dispersal laser equipment for moving piscivorous birds away from members’ fisheries.

The agrilaser has a range of up to 25000 metres / 1.5 miles which member fishing clubs can use should their club suffer from cormorant issues.

The association also owns its own weed cutting boat with a pod’s cutter for difficult swims &pegs on rivers pods or canals for clubs to hire.

All of the equipment is available for use only by members for a minimal donation towards the upkeep & maintenance costs of the equipment.

Training in safe and correct usage of the equipment will be provided.
